The golf course was originally laid out as a nine-hole course with a maximum
grade of three percent. It was called the Cardiac Course. The layout was
such that a patron could play three, six or nine holes and finish near the
clubhouse. This design catered to the varying degrees of physical ability
of the people visiting here, for what patrons called, "the rest cure".
During the 1960's, the course was expanded to an eighteen-hole championship course. At that time, an additional par 29 (nine hole) course was added. The golf courses are available for cross-country skiing in the winter. The whole park is now used by the physically active for hiking, bike riding, jogging, cross country races and the like.
